Keeping God Present

In breathless awe, men and women often sense the presence of God. In an instant, He is here with us and our heightened awareness overwhelms us. The sensation is impossible to describe. All the wondering servants can do is bow and pray that the Lord will enable them to capture the sensation. Our minds and our souls are not big enough to fit God´s immensity inside. Yet we will cling to that moment and never want to let it go.

Those moments where we are shown God´s nearness are why we come to seek Him. We cannot truly worship someone we don´t know or cannot approach. But we can enjoy God´s presence daily. Not every moment will be breathtakingly clear. But our relationship can grow until His Spirit fills our souls and remains with us. The Holy Spirit will soon surprise us with His counsel, guidance, and strength. We will have to search diligently for Him. We will need to cultivate our walk with Him. But the Spirit of God can be with us throughout our day.

The question with God is never if things are possible for Him. It is whether we want the Lord enough to reach for Him. If we want to experience God and His Spirit in our lives, He can be there. Once He finds sufficient interest on our part, the barriers that hid Him from us vanish. Then, we can enjoy each step of every day, learning to keep our God right there with us.

Dear Lord, we would like to learn the ancient secret of keeping You close all day. We long to wake up to You in the morning and not leave Your side. Demonstrate Your nearness. Fill us with passion for that sensation. Drive us hard after You until we are enjoying Your Spirit every minute for as long as we live. In Your name, we pray. Amen
