Jesus tries to show us that our usual ways of thinking are not good enough. Behind every action, something stirs that causes those actions. These are the things that need to be adjusted. Christ calls for repentance. We cannot continue on our own course. Sin lives in our natures. Only His presence dispels it. Where we are quick to anger and resentment, He is gentle. His eye is on the Father. His direction is clear. Walk with Him and we draw nearer to God with every stride. Step in any other way, and we stray.
When we walk hand in hand with Jesus, we go where He leads. Even simple acts like eating and drinking, become things we do with God. The greater acts of kindness and worship soon blend with our daily actions until all we do is an offering. Christ becomes the cure for what ails us.
There are no secret methods or spiritual devices. There is nowhere else to turn. Not even religion can substitute for an intimate relationship with our Savior. More Bible study and meetings do work wonders, but true healing only starts as we approach Him. Jesus is alive! He wants to help! But we must reach the point where we seek Him. We need to spend time in His presence and learn to hear His voice.
Dear Lord, only You can heal us. Draw us so close that we change with every passing moment with You. Heighten our awareness of Your presence as we seek You with all our hearts. As You see our hope and devotion is fully on You, reward our feeble efforts. Don´t just give us more meetings or more theory, give us a vibrant relationship with You. That bond will be good for eternity. Amen
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV / For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Philippians 3:9 ESV / And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
Romans 3:22 ESV / The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:
Galatians 3:22 ESV / But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Galatians 2:16 ESV / Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
