Who Is Right?

Trends in religion have made experts of everyone with an opinion. It is not surprising that churches are dividing and new strains are growing up all the time. We get excited when we hear a vibrant new speaker or find a talented writer. But for all our fuss, we are not seeing a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The whole wave of opinions and experts has not come by accident. We were warned of it long ago. But we do not have to be swept away or confused. Rather, it is time for us to note our sad state. Instead of engaging in more heated debates, we can run. Where? To the Lord!

If we all turned and sought the Lord again in earnest, we would find Him. If we wanted more out of our relationship, we would get it. If our deepest desire is to step closer to our Savior, we can. Repent. Return to our First Love. Make our Lord the Source we go to. Let no one tell us anything different. Live for the bond that we are cultivating. And let the world have their views.

Dear Lord, as our world spins into confusion, let us step closer still. Only by Your side will we hear Your instruction. We want to hear directly from You. We do not need to be experts on any other topic than how to wake up in Your presence. So, turn up the heat on our relationship. Visit us with Your Spirit until it is You who we follow for every step, we pray. Amen
