Christians love to talk big and rush forward on our missions. We claim the promises of God and His instructions. Then we bolster our reserves and step out, fully believing we are doing God’s will. Often, we care not whose toes we step on to do it because we are convinced that our purpose is high and mighty. The problem with this is that it ignores the greater part of the Bible.
Time and time again, God´s children have needed to be reminded to seek Him first. It was like that in biblical times and we continue doing it today. It is time we learn to seek the Lord first. We should become experts on placing ourselves before Him. When we are ushered into the presence of God, our human motives and drive burn away. What we have left are hearts that are willing and ready to follow the Lord through every step.
We will see God do mighty things. We can witness the power and wisdom of the Lord. Miracles will surprise us. Visions and encounters of the Divine are around every corner. But let us seek the Spirit of God. Let us take no step without His presence and direction. God will go before us, but we must go to Him or we will go alone.
Dear Lord, help us learn from the past that no notion is Yours unless You lead us. You give us no ability or wisdom to go off on our own. So please don´t let us get to that point. Rather, enable us to find You. Show us how Your presence will be our strength, wisdom, and reason. When we come to You, embrace us. Help us hold tight and stay right where You are moving in every moment. Amen
40. They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned.” 41. Moses said, “Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper? 42. Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that way you won’t be struck down before your enemies. 43. For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you will fall by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh; therefore Yahweh will not be with you.” Numbers 14:40-43
