Stop Being the Gentiles

For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Matthew 6:32

Christians have this direct and beautiful instruction from our Savior. If we cling to His words as we claim, His words give us a clear picture of what our lives should look like. The problem is that we live in a sea of distractions and our nature runs after them instead of our Lord.

Jesus´ words embrace more than being worriers.  He includes even those who are concerned about their jobs or careers.  We don´t want to burden anyone, but the instruction remains, “Don´t worry!”

With such simple instructions, the child of God can step forward. We need not struggle with our tendencies forever. Pray that we get Christ´s words deep enough into our souls. Let our attention shift. If we can let go of all that we hold so important in this world, we can place it all in His hands. Then, He can walk us through every step as He leads us where He would have us go.

Please Lord, Your words, “you of little faith,” sting as we see where we fall short. We need Your help. We want to walk with confidence through our day and not worry. Help us see that a change needs to be made in where our attention lies. Let us concern ourselves with You. You can take care of the hows and whys. Just let us focus so fully on You that we follow Your every movement. Amen

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?  Matthew 6:30 (WEB)

But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.  Verst 33
