Judging Others

Or how will you tell your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye,’ and behold, the beam is in your own eye? Matthew 7:4

As long as we remain mere humans living out our earthly lives, we will fall short of God´s calling. We fell from God´s intended purposes long ago and most of us will continue down our own paths our whole lives. One of the results is that we see the faults in others, but blind ourselves to any ugliness of our own. Each person alive needs to be saved, even from ourselves.

Christians, of all people, know we should be kind and forgiving to those around us. Christ set the example, even going to the cross for the worst of us. Yet the struggle continues. What is wrong is that we wander far from the Lord. It will take a determined change of direction to make progress or see any results. So, what can we do?

Our hope lies in shifting our entire gaze away from us and back onto God. If we make it crucial enough, we can seek Jesus instead of seeing what everyone else sees. Where before we looked sideways at each other or our world, we now look to our Savior. Where we step, we step with Him. When we think, our thoughts are of Him. When we talk, it is first and foremost with the Lord. Maintaining an unbroken connection with our God in every moment is the only way we will act as God wants us to. So, press close! Stay, close! And pray for more closeness until Christ´s goodness warms the world around us!

Dear Jesus, we would like to come to You.  You can see if there is anything blocking us from that closeness.  Let us correctly adjust ourselves to You today.  In that bonding and filling of us with You, may we find our own healing.  Never let us look sideways at our neighbor, but always behold You first.  Then, with our eyes firmly set on You, we will see our neighbor in a reflection of love that only You could have for him.

Amen
