The enemy of our Lord is cunning. He knows what tactics work to trick souls away from God. As Christians, we are eager to serve Him. So it is easy to think we are doing God´s will even though we haven´t sought Him first. We can even work long and hard, gaining ground all the time, yet never imagine that He waits for us to look for Him.
We underestimate the great deceiver whenever we let our guard down. A sensation of confidence or security is usually the first sign of his handiwork. Nowadays, his goal is not to kill off every believer in Christ but to make fools out of us. If he can make us think we are doing God´s business, we are more likely to step out. An army charging into battle looks ridiculous when their Leader is not even with them.
The only way to show the world we belong to God is for it to see us going to Him. If we want to take steps with our Savior, we must get into His presence. Never take anything for granted. Get close, grow our relationship with Christ, and then keep it. If our attention is focused on God, it will be harder to trick us into stepping out on our own.
Dear Lord, instead of having huge numbers who call themselves Yours, put it in some of our hearts to seek You. Help some of us see our need to make our walk into something real. If we fight, let it be so that we grow closer to You. Then, when we are enjoying Your presence in our lives, let the world see our faith and be amazed. Amen
