Who Is Coming to the Kingdom?

10. When Jesus heard it, he marveled and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel. Matthew 8:10

A Centurian recognized that Christ commands the power of God to heal. He approached Jesus because his heart knew it was the only place for a trusting soul to go. When our Lord saw this kind of faith, He remarked on it. Restoration was given freely and we can learn from that. Seek God and healing will come. But that wasn´t all that Christ wanted us to know.

When people get cozy with their religion, they often stop their search. We imagine that our work is already done because we sing, pray, and hold to our set of beliefs. But those are mere channels through which we can approach God. They don´t automatically place us before the Almighty. That is something we must each see through to completion every day.

The Centurion honored God by giving Jesus credit for His authority. Still, he demonstrates that for our faith to be genuine, Christ must have all the glory and all the say. We, who call ourselves children of the Kingdom must stop and check ourselves. Who is in control of our situation now? Let us not give up our seats with those of faith. Let us hold no confidence in our church heritage. Instead, let us lift our Savior to His rightful seat of power over our day. Then come to Him, as He is our only hope for restoration.

Dear Jesus, help us understand that for You to admire our faith, it needs to bring us into Your presence. If we can come and get to know You personally, we exercise that faith. Show us what marvels we stand to see where You are free to move with complete authority. Let the parameters of Your limitlessness be the Kingdom we live in forever. We pray. Amen
