It might be the greatest and most common sin we Christians commit each day. We do it all the time without even thinking about it. That is, we reduce our Savior and our God by placing limitations on them in our hearts. We don´t mean to do it. It is just that we are more familiar with how things work in our world. So we cannot see God stepping in to work His wonders in our day. But it is sad, and we should strive to rise above this crime.
As modern-day Christians, we claim Jesus is the very Son of God. We give Him a high place of honor through flattering songs and prayers. We do not doubt that the Lord has the power to move. But we fail to put our trust on the line. We know God can work miracles. We just don´t expect Him to do it here, now, or for us. So nothing extravagant happens because nobody is looking for it. The very children of God can´t see Him parting the heavens. And, as a result, we go on without seeing anything. That is sad.
Jesus sent away the blind men by saying that it would be done for them according to their faith. They experienced the awesome power of God in their lives. All because they knew that Jesus was right there. Where Jesus is, anything He wants to happen, can. This is faith! It is time we see our lack of faith. It is time to go to Christ. But, let us approach Him, determined to see what wonders He has prepared for us today!
Dear Jesus, We know Your power goes far beyond anything we can imagine. So please help us to trust You now. Give us the size and strength of faith to witness You at work. Let our hearts soar each day. Thrill us as we witness Your movement, miracles, and mighty presence. We pray. Amen
