Don´t Fear Those Who Kill

Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Matthew 10:28

During His lifetime here amongst us, Jesus was set firmly on one thing.  His every thought, action, and message faithfully pointed to it.  He worked hard. Sacrificing all the distractions the world has to offer without giving them thought.  So intent was He towards this single goal of His that He lived and died as if nothing else existed.  All that He touched and loved reflected His dedication to it.  And what is this one THING?  It was God, the Father, in heaven.

Jesus said and did absolutely everything because it was the will of His Father.  He was expressing to everyone who cares what He knows about the great heart of God.  With this single-minded view came wisdom and power. It poured in sufficient quantities to redeem our entire lost world.  All pardon was paid and a path was opened to bring men and women of all ages back into the presence of God. Now Christ holds His simple way out for all of us to follow. We can follow Him!

Jesus is our example, our Helper, and our Guide.  He will also be the Reward for those who take Him seriously enough to open their ears and listen. He will be our companion. We can step in behind Him. We can draw closer every day. God will be our all. We can put Him before our fears, desires, and ambitions. With our eyes on our Savior, all that we do can be for God. Then, we can be like our Lord with nobody on earth left to fear!

Dear Jesus, there are so many things we fear in this life. Take us by the hand and lead us in Your footsteps.  Give us this same single-minded heart that seeks to do the will of our Father in heaven.  We know that we must leave behind the heart we had for ourselves and our surroundings.  May we find grace in You to enable us where we fall short. Amen

Colossians 3:2 ESV / Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Deuteronomy 6:5 ESV / You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Philippians 3:7-8 ESV / But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ

Isaiah 26:3-4 ESV / You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
