Getting Further in God´s Kingdom

A stronger desire for Christ gets us much further in God´s Kingdom.

The burden we could ask for today should be to yearn for more of the Lord. If we could get our hearts and souls to long for Him all day long, our relationship with Him would grow. Our walk with Christ would increase. Our focus would shift to God more and more. From morning to night, we would find moments to seek out the Holy Spirit, if only we wanted it more.

Pick up the Bible and read anywhere you like, it has long been our problem. We often reach a comfortable spot in our beliefs and then stop needing God like we did before. We need to find a way to keep the flame of desire burning hot. It is an art to empty ourselves of us. But, even if we can manage to make a little room in our hearts, the Spirit of God is ready to rush in. The more empty space we make in our souls, the better the home we can provide for God in us.

Let us waste no time weighing up others. Pray that we take a good hard look inside of us. Do we need our Savior? Is that need genuine? If we can generate a void great enough and pressing enough, our Lord can come to us.

Dear Lord, make our souls ache for more of You. We want more time in Your presence, greater revelations of Your nearness, and a closer walk. But none of that will come unless we know we need You. So empty us of all the lesser desires. Make for Yourself a people after Your own heart. Let us burn for more of You. Amen!
