Belief in God these days often throws people onto a multitude of missions. Everyone is bent on doing something, and many believe they are doing God´s work. Yet long before God asks us to run off and reap a harvest, He calls us first to Him.
Belonging to a Christian institution does not mean that we have encountered God. Making grand declarations of faith does not qualify us to build up a ministry. Christ only sends someone out when that person has already learned to walk each step with Him. We can do a lot of work and say that it is what God wants. But who carries on talking with Him long enough to find out where His heart is on the matter?
Way before we throw ourselves into our mission of winning souls. Let us pray that our hearts are so embedded in the Lord that we have no mission of our own.
Dear Lord, make it our mission today to grow closer to You. Place the crushing burden upon us to know You more. Then, when we grow so entwined in You that we are no longer us without You, Your will can be done. But please, don´t let us step anywhere without You. In Jesus´ name, we pray, Amen.
Mark 8:34 ESV / And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
John 14:6 ESV / Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Galatians 2:20 ESV / I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Matthew 4:19 ESV / And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 19:21 ESV / Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
