Depression is real and can come to anyone. Those who enter will struggle to get out. Yet those who turn to God can rise in hope. Being down is not always a bad place. It can help us look up. From there, we realize that our hope lies in God. We stretch for the Lord´s open arms. If we let go of our pain and dive into His embrace, we will find relief. There is no safer place than to be enveloped in God. It is what we were created for. David was considered great in faith. He knew well what sorrow was. But his greatness was not because he was favored by God. It was because he went further in tying his hope to the Lord. That is a trick we can learn as well
Dear Lord, help us let go. We struggle to see past ourselves, our pain, and our troubles. Give us a heart after You. Let us come to You and bury ourselves in Your arms. With You, we do not have to dwell any longer on the things that hurt us. We can gladly exchange it all for the joys of being with You. Let our attention shift we pray. When You become more important to us than we are, we will find relief. We ask for help in the name of Jesus, who suffered all to bring us into this embrace. Amen
