Hearing from God

Anyone who wants it enough will learn to hear from God.

Anyone who wants it enough will learn to hear from God.

All the blessings God has for His children are free and available. The Lord wants to share them with us. He encourages us to pursue them, pray for them, and grow close enough to Him so that they are rightfully ours. One delight we may not have right now is hearing God´s audible voice speaking out loud. But that does not mean we cannot hear from Him. The Lord speaks to us in many different ways each day. He whispers to our souls, and His words come alive in the Bible. God talks to us through other people. And He may even convey messages to us through dreams. For those who are interested, there is much that can be done to learn to hear. First, we must want to hear. Then, cultivate our relationship until we find constant opportunities to approach Him. As we tune our hearts to God, we will soon realize He has been communicating with us all the time. What made the difference was how hard we were trying to hear.

Dear Lord, take what little interest we show in You today and increase it. Give us hearts that live to be with You. Make us so driven in our desire to be in Your presence that we seek it all the time. As we approach You more often and more determinedly, open our awareness. Teach us to hear even the inaudible messages You whisper to our souls. Wherever You move, help us detect it immediately as we walk that close to You. Then, teach us of all Your marvelous wonders, we pray. Amen

Luke 11:9-10 ESV / And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Luke 18:1-8 ESV / And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” …

Philippians 4:6 ESV / Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
