When pressed, stressed, or hurt, our reactions will demonstrate what kind of people we are. For those who care to contemplate such things, much can be learned. Also, what we see can help us improve our character. If we tend to have outbursts of anger, being aware of the facts will allow us to work on them. But the whole matter has a much greater solution. It may not be an instant fix, but the results are eternally better.
If we learn to turn to the Lord, for good times and bad, we will have Him there with us in our reaction. Some call it walking with God. We make an effort to pray often, all through our day. We run to Him with each success and every trouble. We talk it over with our Savior. As we form a habit of passing every single thing through Him, He is right there with us. He is a part of our reaction. He influences our thinking, our emotions, and our actions. We may be dealing with large or small issues, but we are not handling them alone.
We get to choose the kind of person we will be. We can engage in life completely on our own. Or, we can take a road that offers us wisdom, righteousness, and limitless power. Let us choose to walk intimately with the Divine. Let us take Him with us every step of the way. Draw our hearts near. And let the Lord be a part of all that we must become!
Dear Lord, we are tired of reacting to this world as every other human does. We want to draw nearer to You. Please strengthen this bond between us. Help us form the habit of taking everything straight to You. Be there with us for the ups and the downs. Let us hide nothing. Rather, make us experts in keeping You present in all that we face, we pray. Amen
