No Empty Words

Let no empty words enter our prayers. Instead, make every prayer connect us with God in a loving encounter.

Falling into a routine in our devotional time with God is far too easy. We may mumble out the same petitions and flatteries. If we are not careful, our moment of speaking with God can turn into a mere ritual. It takes care and dedication on our end. We will need to learn to make the most of the times we steal to be alone with the Lord. Pray that we become experts. Pray that every single moment we find to be with Him places us in His presence. Seek His nearness and demand that our hearts engage with Him. Never pray as if our words float out into limitless space. Instead, seek the intimacy of our dear Friend at every opportunity.

Dear Lord, this relationship we have with You must be real. Help us get this right. We need to know every prayer engages us with You. You have called us, so let us come into Your presence. Flood us with awareness of how near You truly are. Draw us ever closer until our prayers become the precious moments we spend together. Amen

1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV / Pray without ceasing,
