The Direction of Our Gaze

The direction of our gaze is crucial. Let´s look to God instead of ourselves or each other.

What do we mean when we claim to be worshippers of God? It would be beneficial to examine our hearts along with the Lord. We should stop often and get down on our knees. Ask God how sincere we are with our faith. Talk it over with Him. Sit in His presence until He has revealed how much of our hearts we are offering to Him. Turn our attention in God´s direction until we know what it is that we focus on in our lives. Making a habit of being this directed toward the Lord will bring us the answers our hearts need to hear. Focusing our gaze on God is no accident. We must learn, but we can soon become experts.

Dear Lord, there is nothing sweeter or more wonderful than You. Drawing near You is the best thing we can do today, any day, or every day. Let it become the leaning of our hearts. Whenever we get the chance, let us look for You. Make us experts in finding You. When we come, let us linger. Give our hearts unrest when they are anywhere else. For us, Lord, set our gaze on You. And let us turn to You increasingly more each day. Amen
