When God Calls

Let nothing keep us from experiencing the presence of God. From the moment He calls us, let us learn to be with Him; the more, the better!

There comes a moment in life when God whispers to our souls to come to Him. We will be tempted to find people who can direct us along that path. But usually, that road dives us deep into the trends of the church of our choice. Soon, we are walking and talking like the rest and never stop to consider if our response to the call is correct.

Now there is a chance that we did the right thing, but only if we truly came to the Lord. When we heard that whisper, did we strain to hear it more often or clearly? Did we detect the presence of a being there and then strive with all our might to sense Him more? If we did all the usual steps and then used them to engage with God, we headed in the right direction. When God calls us to be with Him, pray that we do just that—spend time in His presence.

Dear Lord, there are forces that would keep us from finding and engaging with You. They could even use our churches or religion to satisfy us before ever encountering You. But please give us a burden to make it into Your presence. Let us become experts in reaching a place where we are with You. Help us come before Your throne. Open our souls to experience You today. Send Your Spirit to lift us to realms where we are together forever. Amen

Ephesians 2:1-10 ESV / And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— …

Matthew 6:1-34 ESV / “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. …

Isaiah 1:1-31 ESV / The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged. Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. …
