There are many in the fold who no longer need to be with Christ. The vast majority have all the security they desire. We cling to our promises. We have a truckload of verses to prove our right to glory. Along with the rest, we live our refined lives. The comfort of our fold is unanimously celebrated. But, now and then, a lost one gets found. Pray that it is us.
The lonely individual finds themselves without any comfort. Only their Savior can reach them. If we are lucky, we will be rescued from certain death. Christ will lift us into His embrace. Deep in His arms, we will have what we always needed. God will be ours, and we will be His.
Dear Lord, while others take the matter lightly, let us press close to You. While the rest revel in their comforts, give us a sense of loneliness. If we get nothing else out of this life, give us You. We pray. Amen
3 He told them this parable: 4 “Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? 5 When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
