Getting Tired

Hard times can leave us feeling worn out. Those are perfect times to edge in closer to our Savior.

God has a secret treasure prepared for when we grow weary from all that life throws at us. That present is Himself. The pressure can get so great that we lose the will even to carry on. That is when some of us turn to the Lord. If we go only to complain and beg for smoother sailing, we might not gain the greater reward. But if we use our exhaustion and pain to throw ourselves upon Him, He will be there.

Coming to God only seeking to wrap ourselves in His embrace purifies our intentions. It purifies our intentions. We ask not that God removes our thorns but that His grace is sufficient for us. The Lord can pour His Spirit into hearts seeking nothing else but Him. God will be close and show Himself to those who press that close. Pray that we do!

Dear Lord, let our struggles gain us a special bond with You. Take away our comforts and rewards if it must be so. Only let us know that we are working on heavenly goals. We are here to learn to walk with You. Assist our wandering souls to set You as our Prize. Then grant that every step draws us closer; we pray. Amen

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 ESV / So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Romans 8:1-39 ESV / There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. …

John 16:33 ESV / I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

James 1:12 ESV / Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Romans 8:18 ESV / For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

James 1:2-4 ESV / Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

2 Corinthians 12:1-21 ESV / I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses— …

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV / Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
