Waking up to God´s presence humbles and thrills like nothing on earth. Heaven opens, and the earthlings get a glimpse of glory for a moment. From that blessed awareness, we would think that we are finally safe from any attack. But darkness noticed too. And it will want to ruin it for us. So, the watchful souls will guard their hearts. They will know that after both gains and losses, our hearts must press closer still unto our Lord. There is no place or time on this side of heaven to relax and let our guard down.
Christians have all the promised protection and safety of God´s arms. Yet it never falls to a declaration or technicality. Our security lies in the ties we have to Christ. Are they mere words that we say? Are they theories we hold? Or do we prove our bond to the Son of God by the way we seek Him out?
The blessed ones who will see God´s face will be those who hungered for Him. These are the ones who could not stomach taking a step without Him. They needed the Lord near. When they proved they wanted His presence, they asked to grow closer still. But take no one´s word for it. Search it out for ourselves. Test the spirits. Look to see if these hearts genuinely want to be with our Savior.
Dear Lord, never let our fire die out. Help feed our desire to be with You. Keep the distractions of this world from eclipsing our vision of You. Let our portion be intense hunger and thirst. Where You are moving is where we want to be. What You are feeling and thinking is what we need to know. So draw us near now; we pray! Amen
