Finding God

If we lose ourselves in the Bible, we can find ourselves quickening to new life in the Lord.

The Bible is much more than a book full of words. God’s wondrous presence should overcome and overwhelm us when we read its pages.

It is not a religious life we are called to. We are called to life in the Spirit. The Bible was not written to give us rules and reasons. It was written to bring us into contact with God. We can encounter Him and engage with Him every moment of every day. We will have to learn to see with new eyes and hear with new ears. And only the Holy Spirit can give us those. Pray we grow past our literal translations. Let our trust in the Lord lift our sights high above the limitations of our world. Set our gaze upon God. And let us learn to live with Him in spirit. And in truth.

Dear Lord, take us by the hand and walk us through this journey of faith. Lead us past the pitfalls and limitations of our minds. Bring us to a place where we can detect You. Let Your presence dawn upon us and replace our shallow religious notions. Grow this relationship until we live with You and You with us; we pray. Amen

John 5:39-40 ESV / You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

James 1:21 ESV / Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Hebrews 4:12 ESV / For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2 Peter 1:20-21 ESV / Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV / The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

Matthew 22:29 ESV / But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 ESV / As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
