In the Eye of the Storm

In the arms of our Lord, we can weather any storm or sea. Blessed are those who snuggle in close.

We may have smooth sailing at times. But stormy times are sure to come. Life is like that. When our horizons grow dark and scary, it throws us upon the Lord. We learn how frail we are and how little control we have. Let disease come or global events strike, and even the rich or powerful cannot turn the force of the winds. Yet those who are close to God will stand to face the approaching hurricane.

Instead of filling our hearts with confidence, let the fear grip us. Let us tremble and seek our God. If we run to Him now, His mighty arms will be our hope. Being near and in the presence of the Spirit is the only safe place for us. Let us make sure to reach that blissful embrace.Dear Lord, while the rest build themselves up, let us search for You. While the world would be strong, let us draw near to You in need. We cannot see the dangers that approach, but if our footsteps fall close to Yours, all will be well for our souls. Make living for us mean we are with You all the time; we pray. Amen

Matthew 14:28-33 ESV / And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

Psalm 23:1-6 ESV / A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
