Jesus With God!

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.  Mark 16:19 (NIV)

Our Savior finished giving us and His followers some last words of instruction and then He was taken up into Heaven.  Is that a lot to take in?  Are there many things to consider in so few words?  Here we have the Son of God.  He had just finished His earthly ministry.  He had walked His life here on earth as His Father had wanted Him to.  He had instructed, guided and shown by example so many things to help us draw closer to God.  He had offered up His own life to pay for our sinful separation from our Creator.  His sacrifice had won against the consequences of sin, death and all evil.  He was triumphant!  He now held the right to be our King!  He won this right not by exercising power and force, but by submission!  Now He was going home!  Now He was going to sit by the right hand of God His Father!  Now He was going to Glory!

What does this mean to us?  How does it affect us?  Is it something that we considered once upon a time?  Did we make a calculation of data, information, or concepts?  Did we come to a conclusion that we felt comfortable with?  Did it change our lives back then?  Or is it something that we consider all the time?  Is it something which sits upon us like an immense pressure?  Do we feel the weight of it pressing down upon us as we go about our day?  Do we stop often and wonder after Jesus, His Father and their incredible gift to us?  Do we spend our quiet moments searching to be near Them?  Do we feel the Presence of our God intimately close?  Do we speak with Jesus as a friend?  Do we bow our heads to the ground in reverent awe to be faced with such power, such grace and such love?

The words say that after Jesus had spoken to them, He went to sit with God.  Has Jesus spoken to us?  Did we hear Him today?  Do we hear Him still right now?  Although we do not see Him, do we know that He is there with the Father?  Are we comforted by the thought?  Is it something which draws us closer to both Father and Son?  Is it what gives us the strength to face every situation?  Are we warmed in every moment because we have a friend, an advocate, a helper sitting at the right hand of God in heaven?  Is that truly where we find our strength?  Or do we prefer to struggle through our lives under our own efforts and intelligence?

Dear Jesus, we have heard Your words.  We live for those words of encouragement, enlightenment and guidance.  Please fill us now with an overwhelming awareness of You.  Place a great burden upon our shoulders with the realization that You ARE, the Father IS and that You are together NOW!  Let us feel that!  Let the weight of it affect everything we think, say or do!  Give us a sense of urgency in every moment because our God has done so much for us!  You are there with the Father, still working to assure we make it home!  There is still some part of God´s great plan that needs to be accomplished!  We, Your lambs must be brought home to You!  Let us make every effort, every importance that must be, so that Your will is done!  Let the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be pleased to be reunited soon with us who turn to You!  Give us grace, help us, and bring us to You there we pray!

Amen, and AMEN!!!!
