The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. Acts 5:12 (NIV)
Believers gather in the name of the Lord. They come together to worship Him. But the ones who had walked this earth with the Saviour Jesus Christ are looked up to. They are giants in faith. They have been in His Presence and learned from the Son of God Himself. The power of the Holy Spirit flows in them. The effects mark the whole community. Whatever the Apostles touch seems to be a miracle from God and an example of His wonders at work.
Our text speaks directly of a determined time in the past. But have things changed? Is this what we experience still today? Are the mighty works of God still seen around us? Are there any who have gone so far as to put themselves in the Presence of the Lord? If we are able to find someone who refused to stop at the comfortable level of modern religion, will we see the hand of God at work? Will miraculous signs also be found? Should we expect that where lives have truly come into contact with the Divine, there we shall also find wonders of God being performed? Would it be worth our while to refuse to seek anything less right now?
Dear Lord,
We have heard stories. We have heard of Apostles performing miraculous signs and wonders. These things don´t come from men but from You. We pray for people now who can say that they have stood in Your Presence too. We pray to see the wonders of You even now, even here today!
