When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:39 (NIV)
It is a special moment of devotion to the Lord. A new soul wants to be baptized into faith in Jesus Christ. Into the water they go. As Philip lifts the new convert out of the water the Spirit of God whisks him away. He disappears! He is seen there no more! Wow!
Many Christians rejoice to hear such stories. Some glorify God without hope of understanding what really happened to this humble preacher. They don´t even need to know! It is amazing and it upholds God to think that He is capable of doing anything He sees fit. Others reject the idea of a man disappearing and reappearing in another city. They try to reason it out or convert the implications to something more to the size of their faith. Who is the true believer? Is it the simple one who cannot begin to fathom but will embrace all thought of an infinite number of incomprehensible wonders are to be found in God. Or is it the skeptic? Where are we? What is the size of our faith?
Please stretch the size of our hearts?! Let us embrace today a strong sense of wonder after You! Let it pain us to think of any limitation to be placed upon You, especially one we may place their by lack of sight or imagination. Wow us! Thrill us! And leave us undone every time we come to consider You and what You are capable of! Be our God of wonder and awe now we pray!
