But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. Acts9:15 (NIV)
God asks Ananias to respond to a specific call. He wants him to go and touch a man of ill repute. This seems wrong! Why me? Why him? Why choose souls that are obviously lacking in worth? How could God be serious? How could He use people who are obviously so far from what is considered Godly people? Yet who are we to know the plans of God? Who can say what God can use? Who can say what He has for those chosen by God?
We can sit back and let the stories in the Bible seem less complicated. But what if the same things are happening now? What if the same principals and the same God are active today? Where are our excuses? What can we say to defend ourselves? Can God still use people like Saul? Can He use men and women like Moses? Could He send one of us to bring sight to a blind soul? Could God be calling us even though we have never proven worthy before? Is He asking for a step in faith today? Could we be chosen by God to do some special task of His? Might we want to pray that we find the faith to proceed along His will?
For Your glory we would like to make Your Scriptures touch us. We want to step inside and live in them. Make them speak to us we pray! Tell us if there is anything at all that we could do for You. Then give us the strength and the faith to step up to Your call! Tell us now if we are chosen by God!
