When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. Acts 9:26 (NIV)
He comes to the Believers. But nobody seems to believe that this man could really be a disciple. They know of his past. It doesn´t fit. How could somebody who was so against Christ and the church now be on our side? How could somebody with such a horrible history really be working for Jesus now? Is this the story of Saul, or is it ours? How far have we come? How much have we changed? Is it difficult for those who know us to think that now we really are a disciple of Christ?
Our story may not be as dramatic as Paul´s. We may not have terrorized those who follow Jesus. But if we have truly stopped living for ourselves, then surely people will wonder about us. Many may not believe that our faith is real. Many may doubt that we could do any good for Christ because they know what we were like. But praise be to the God of healing! Praise be to Jesus Christ, Who can and does still touch the lives of people! Praise the Lord that even we can be changed completely! Praise God that we too can really be His disciples even here today!
Although it may be hard for some to believe, demonstrate to the world that You have become our King! Make it obvious that we have encountered You and that we are a new creation! Live in us! Be what consumes us! Turn our lives into proof that we really are Your disciples we pray!
