Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord. Acts 9:31 (NIV)
The Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit as if He is present like any other character written of in the Scriptures. His Presence is beautiful and fragrant. He helps, He strengthens, He enables and He encourages believers with a power and a wisdom that only comes from the Lord. It is with Him and by Him that people are brought to God and find what it is that He would have of them. It is by the Holy Spirit that people are moved. Can we say the same?
Today we speak of the Holy Spirit but not in a familiar sense. We use the name loosely and associate it more like a concept instead of a reality. What happened to our religion? Where has our Friend and Helper gone? Who is left that will go so far as to look for Him? Who cares that His Presence is not easily felt or miraculously displayed? Who is willing to make having the Holy Spirit here with us now as important as it is in the Scriptures we read? Do we want that kind of connection to God today? Shall we seek to be encouraged, enabled and led by the Holy Spirit now?
We need to be filled, moved, encouraged and assisted by Your Spirit. Please make whatever adjustments necessary in our hearts so that You can flood us with the Presence from above! Let us reach a point today where we can worship You and draw near to You by the power of the Holy Spirit we pray!
