Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. Acts 10: 34-35
We lower our impression of God when we start thinking that He is like us. Even a man who walks as close to Jesus as Peter comes to a moment when he realizes that his thinking limits the Lord. He finally sees what is in the Father´s heart. God isn´t like us! He doesn´t stoop to favoritism. Have we made that discovery yet ourselves?
Nobody is free from blame. Christians think we are nearer to God for our choices, our actions or our firmly held beliefs. Atheists think they are better for their cold logic and disbelief. The sharper dressed, the higher paid, and the stricter attendees of church, we all lend ourselves to feelings of security. But in God there is no favoritism. He is working just as hard for the next sinner as He is for our hearts! Who knows if that person we look down in pity upon may just find the reaction God is looking for inside of them? Who know if it is not us who should embrace the fact that God will overlook our failures? Should we pray that God will teach us today to focus on making Him our Favorite and allow Him to love us all? Shall we seek to reflect the love of God that shows no favoritism?
Teach us to embrace everyone as Your children! Let us be so filled with You that You can pour Your love through us and to anyone You may want to display it to today!
