To Testify

to-testify

He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.  Acts 10:42 (NIV)

Christians believe we are asked to commit ourselves personally to Christ.  Few modern denominations will dispute this.  Whether or not they make much of that dedication or ask little, at least we all agree that we should set ourselves to loving, praying to and seeking to know our Heavenly Father and His Son He sent to redeem us.  We also believe that Jesus asks His followers to testify of Him and His significance to all humans everywhere.  Is this what we do?  Are we aware of what it is to testify?  In what ways we are doing it?

Do we think that to testify is to give our opinion?  Or is it more like a demonstration?  Is testifying a simple transfer of information?  Or is it showing others the effects that Christ´s Presence has in our lives?  Is it testifying when we can explain mere concepts or words?  Or is it when we share the connection that we have made with God?  Should we go out today to convince others of our firm beliefs or of our powers to decipher Scriptures?  Or could we humble ourselves, open our hearts and let others see what is happening in our souls as we come to know Christ?  What can we do now to testify that Jesus is the One for us all?

Dear Lord,

Please let our life, our love and our devotion to You speak for us!  Let others see the change knowing You has brought!  Let Your love flowing in us show that we have been transformed by walking with You!  Give us You in us, to testify we pray!

Amen
