Wake Up!

wake-up

Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.  Acts 12:7 (NIV)

Guards all around!  Mission impossible!  There´s no escape for the man of God, but wait!  Suddenly an angel is there by his side!  Light breaks through and pierces the darkness that surrounds!  With a touch the disciple is awakened!  With only a few words he is brought to his feet!  A miracle happens and the chains fall!  God´s servant is set free!  What seemed moments before hopeless is now full of hope and possibility!  The angel of the Lord is here!  No doors, bars or guards can keep him out!  When God hears prayers, when God has plans, nothing can stop Him!  Nothing but doubt and lack of faith!  Do we find ourselves in some kind of jail too?

Who today looks that hard for a miracle to happen in us?  Who truly believes that God can do the impossible?  Who now has the kind of faith the Lord can work with?  Who is praying earnestly enough that God will be moved to send His angels to our rescue?  Times may have changed, but God hasn´t!  Should we be praying now for God to lift our sights?  Should we pray that the Lord can make it past all the guards and set us free from our own disbelief?

Dear Lord,

Come to us now!  In an instant send us a message past all the barriers!  Let us know again that nothing is impossible for You!  Let our faith be set free and allow us to follow You without restraint!  Wake us up to freedom in You we pray!

Amen
