Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, Acts 13:9 (NIV)
We Christian love to imagine ourselves as a warriors for the Lord. We love to think that our choice to believe in an all-powerful God brings strength to us. We like to think that power is ours. In a way it is, but in a way it never has been or ever will be completely ours. The power of God is always God´s power even though it may benefit us greatly. It can never be separated from Him! For all the patting we may do to our own backs, any strength we ever find in the Lord is only there as long as we are with Him. It is not by trying to stand on our own. When we open our mouths today, is it the Spirit of God that enables us to speak?
As we go about our daily lives, shall we seek to be filled with God Himself? Should we try to get past ourselves and into a high plain where the Holy Spirit is free to move us? Shall we strive to reach a place in our relationship with Him where He can fill us with His thoughts and His words? Those who we consider great in the Scriptures and those who do mighty things in the name of the Lord have learned the secret. Shall we try to learn from those filled with the Spirit? Shall we learn how we too can be enabled to speak?
Teach us again what it means to be filled with Your Spirit. Show us what it means to be so connected to You that it is Your power, Your wisdom and Your Word that fill us, flood us and flow through us! Let us learn how we too can be enabled to speak by Presence and power of the Holy Spirit we pray!
