Look, You Scoffers!

look-you-scoffers-1

” ‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’ “  Acts 13:41  (NIV)

The thought of Jesus is difficult for many people to swallow.  The powers that be would not let everyone accept Christ readily.  Some may be swayed by convincing argument or the enticement of a refined way of life or a church family to join.  Some may feel a secret pull deep within their soul.  But the Bible tells us plainly that few will go forward in faith to take up that what God holds out for us.  To truly accept Jesus today in our times would mean letting go of some things we cling to a little too tightly.  We would have to put our hope in the existence of spirits, souls and ghosts like the Holy Ghost.  We would have to let God be right and have His say even though our education and science will tell us it cannot be.  We would have to admit that the Lord performs miracles which alter reality now in our day. Most of us find excuses each day to say;  “Why would God perform a miracle right now?”

Despite our disbelief, even though we would never think it could happen, God is here!  He is alive and moving!  Christ is the risen Lord and His work is not finished yet!  In fact, He is just getting started!  Who will still pray for our eyes to be opened to see fantastic and thrilling expressions of His love and might today?

Dear Lord,

Move in power!  Let all that we see be shaken!  Let your children rejoice to see that You are alive and that You are still working in  mighty ways in and around us today!

Amen
