Appointed For Life

appointed-for-life

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.  Acts 13:48  (NIV)

A door opens in the hearts and lives of some to come and know the Lord.  Others though find reason for negative thoughts and selfishness.  They would make the promises of God available to themselves but exclude others.  Is this just a problem Paul and Barnabas faced?  Or is it something we see in our religious circles still today?  If we are not careful, could this sentiment creep into our hearts secretly and trip us up too?

God is working out His Great Plan of Salvation on a level we don´t yet comprehend.  His love extends to unworthy souls everywhere, even us!  We all need to be saved!  We all need to fit into His plan somewhere.  We must be selected as His!  We need to be appointed for life!  If we are overlooked or not found to be interested enough in having the kind of relationship with the Lord that He says we should have, then do we really think we should be selected?  If we turn our dealings with Christ into anything but the most intimate and crucial relationship of our lives, do we actually think that we deserve to be appointed for eternal life with Him?  Should we do what we can to show the Lord that we want to be with Him now?

Dear Jesus,

Forgive us whenever try to turn our religion into anything but a walk with You!  Help us to see our need for You with us at all times!  Help us to see that without You we will never be appointed for an unending life together with You we pray!

Amen
