They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, Acts 15:39 (NIV)
One might think that there should be no disagreement within the body of believers. Paul and Barnabas have their dispute. So sharply do they disagree that they part company. But the Spirit does not stop there. The word of God is not hindered. Both parties go on to encourage others and to teach of Jesus. Should we think that it is merely their human agendas that bring on the conflict? Or could there be a certain amount of the Lord´s workings behind our discontent sometimes?
Many times we stoop to looking merely at our own issues and begin to overlook the Lord´s will and movement. But has God ever brought a new revelation or change into our lives because of some discontent or disagreement we have had? Should we learn to approach Christ more fervently in these moments of disagreement? He knows what He is doing! Should we ask if the Lord has some new work He wants to begin in our lives, or through them that may never come to be if we carried on as we are? Shall we seek His council? Shall we ask Him if He is using our disagreement to bring the joy of knowing God to someone who might need Him now?
Where would You have us look today? Help us to see when others do not agree, if perhaps You may be leading us into a new season of witnessing or a new revelation of Yourself to us we pray!
