One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. Acts 16:14 (NIV)
It all begins here. Real change occurs when we reach the point where our heart is ready to respond. Our head may be convinced by listening. Our mind may be swayed by hearing a persuading message. But something deep within our core needs to be stirred. Anything less will only result in superficial changes. A new convert may begin to go to church. The drunkard may lay down his bottle. But when the heart is opened to respond is when a soul is ready to encounter its Savior. This is when a person meets Christ. When our heart is opened to respond is when the Presence of God can come to us! Is that awareness what we seek now?
Without the Presence of Jesus acutely felt, all our frantic scurrying is merely activity. Even if we suppose that our work is pleasing the Lord, if we leave Him out of the here and now, how can we say any of it is for Him? Jesus wants to walk with us! We need to walk with Him! Without Him with us there is nothing that can ever help us! Shall we open our hearts to respond to Him now? Shall we seek His Presence with all that we are and in the deepest corners or our souls? Is this the response He is looking for in us today?
Stir us to the profoundest part of our souls! Open our hearts to respond to You today! Let us be moved enough to seek Your Presence! Then come and walk with us now we pray!
