God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. Acts 17:27 (NIV)
We find ourselves surrounded by objects of worship, churches and information. But far above our world our God works to repair the distance between His creation and Him. He has given countless gestures of His love and good-will for us. He showers us with blessings. He even gives life to a race that stubbornly looks to themselves instead of coming to Him. He continues to be gracious to us in the hope that some will still turn. He yearns for us to seek Him. Is this what we do? When we call ourselves Christians, is it because we are really reaching out for God?
Singing praises, praying loudly and making bold declarations of faith may appease the hearts of many people. But history shows that in every age some people want more. These children of the burning heart seek out a quiet place. They find a place that is removed from the clamor of our day. They go to their knees. They reach out to God through tears. They refuse to set their hope on anything less. They choose to seek Jesus despite the religious trends of our day. They reach out to Christ so that they can find God. Does this describe us now?
Help us close our eyes and ears to our times. Increase the burning in our soul. Help us seek You with all we are! Help us reach out for You for our very lives! Let us know You are near and that we can have the hope of finding You today!
