The Race

The Race

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.  Acts 20:24  (NIV)

Not everyone can expect the same for their future as Paul was led to know would happen to him.  The Spirit told him he would be arrested and oppressed.  But not everyone can say they have dedicated themselves to the Lord and spreading the word of God as intently as this man of God.  We may all face difficulties as we turn from the world´s parade.  We may even encounter more opposition the further we stand out as children of God in a fallen world.  But the serious worshipper will never be able to accept anything less for themselves.  Their lives are in God´s hands!  They are driven to win the race!  They want nothing if they cannot have all of the Lord as theirs.  Does this describe us now?

God is infinitely gracious.  The gracious God has all eternity to show His favor and His good will for those who will press on to find Him.  Those who will settle for nothing less than an intimate and true relationship with God will be more than filled by what they experience.  Those who have already received a little of the Lord will sense the need to share and to testify to the gospel of God´s grace.  Can we join Paul in his desire to finish that race?

Dear Lord,

Let the only race we run today be the one that leads to You!  Let us not focus on anything else but for winning more of You!  Help us win Your favor and share Your grace we pray!

Amen
