Zealous Christians

Zealous Christians

Then Paul said: “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. Under Gamaliel I was thoroughly trained in the law of our fathers and was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.  Acts 22:3  (NIV)

Upset by the perceived threat to their religion, men violently apprehend the man.  Chained but safe, Paul tries to help his hateful attackers see who he is and where his devotions lie.  He explains his history in the church, his religious standing and his devotion.  All are things we normally use to weigh a person.  In every Church setting across the globe people are measured by their zealousness.  But unfortunately zealousness doesn´t always prove that people´s hearts are with God.  What kind of zealous Christian are we?

All in the name of God, we can be zealous for our brand of Christianity, our forms of worship, and our presumed standing with Him.  But there is another form of zealousness that presses past what we can see on the outside.  There is a zealousness that some feel to be right with God in living experience.  These care less about denomination, rituals or proffered texts.  These burning souls want to enter God´s Presence each and every day!  Only when they are bowed before Him, and are focusing their entire attention on Him, are they content.  These humble worshippers, like Paul, are zealous to be with God!  What about us?

Dear Lord,

Increase our zealousness today!  Help us be the kind of zealous Christians that go beyond all the rest and right into Your Presence!  We want to bow before You now we pray!

Amen
