Followers Of The Way

Followers Of The Way

However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,  Acts 24:14  (NIV)

Admit, Worship, God, Follower, and the Way; these are the words Paul uses to begin the interrogation of his character.  They are good words to describe anyone who would call themselves a Christian.  They may not be the best words to use in the face of a wayward world.  Paul was distained, hated and people sought to do away with him.  Everyone knew of his utter dedication to Jesus, his teachings, and his love for Him.  These can win us treasures in Heaven.  But the world will never understand why we turn from it.  The followers of Christ, the Way, will find their earthly road full of opposition.  But true followers care not.  Their eyes are on Jesus!

We may start to feel better about ourselves when we see an improvement in our conduct, our morals and more involvement in our church community.  Although good and right and are a way, these things are not THE WAY!  The Way that the true Christian follows is a living Being!  We follow Christ.  And to follow means that we know Him and seek Him and His direction personally each step of the Way.  Are we going to be true followers of the Way today?  Shall we draw near Him now and ask Him to lead us home?

Dear Jesus,

You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life!  We want nothing less than You here in us, with us and always before us!  Let us be true followers of the Way we pray!

Amen
