Clear Before God

Clear Before God

So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.  Acts 24:16  (NIV)

Our God sees everything!  Our God knows when we would even fool ourselves!  Our God know when we would like to think we are good and correct, but are actually just hoping our consciences will not betray us.  Can we really state as Paul does, that we always strive to be clean and clear before God?  Do we truly keep all of His desires before our own?

We easily get sidetracked by financial distractions.  We turn quickly to social concerns.  We need little encouragement and we are seeking our own praise or approval before others.  But who can truly say that we always strive to keep our conscience clear before God?  To say that we do, we need to actually stand before the One Who sees every secret distraction.  To know what God would have us do and how He would have us act, we must be so close to Him that we can see how He is working in every situation we face.  Just as Jesus walked intimately with His Father, we must also walk with Him as intently.  Are we asked to follow a set of rules or standards, or to actually walk WITH our Lord!  Is this what we are to strive always to do?  Shall we ask that Jesus will draw us near to Him today?  Shall we ask for a relationship with Him that will reassure our conscience that we strive always to be clear before God?

Dear Heavenly Father,

You see even what is hidden in our hearts.  Please let us near enough to You that we can safely say with a clear conscience that we strive always to be clear before You we pray!

Amen
