Run Aground

Run Aground

But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.  Acts 27:41  (NIV)

Have we been there?  We struggle against winds and waves that toss us for days.  The elements are unleased against us and there seems to be nothing we can do.  The storm rages all around us and we are carried helplessly along by the sea on which we float.  Finally we see a glimpse of hope.  A small cove comes into view in the dawning of the day.  We let go of our anchors and set our hope on reaching that shore.  But then we run aground.  Our vessel gets stuck on the sandbanks of life.  Could God be treating us cruelly?  Or is His love and providence present all that we run into in life?

One day we will be able to ask God why things had to happen the way they did.  At times we can look back and see how He led us towards Him through what we have already experienced.  It may be difficult to trust Him as the waves and seas batter us.  But we can take heart.  We can let go of the anchors!  We can ride the winds as long as we are looking to the Lord.  We are in good hands!  Should we run aground today, as we look to His guidance, we will be right where He wants us to be!  Bring it on!  Let us run aground in Him!

Dear Lord,

We do not know the plans You have for us today.  Please give us the strength of faith and the dedication to look to You over the rough seas and howling winds.  Let us focus on keeping our hearts and attention upon You so that however we run aground, people will be brought safely to Your shore we pray!

Amen
