God´s Children

God´s Children

because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  Romans 8:14  NIV

Christians love to call ourselves God´s children.  It makes us feel like we have a good bond and a connection to our Lord.  It makes us feel special and loved.  It is true.  God is our Heavenly Father.  He made us for a relationship with Him.  But God made a lot of other children that will not enter the Heavenly Family.  So how do we distinguish which ones are really God´s?  Do we know if we are included or excluded?  The many warnings that the Bible holds, tell us clearly that not all are real sons and daughters.  How do we know for sure if we are truly God´s children?

The answer is usually found quickly by the ones who would congratulate themselves.  People will use many handy texts or their association with a body of believers.  But in the end, appearances and acclamations will never win us a crown.  God´s children will always be those who took what little they had with the Lord and made the most of it for them and for their very lives.  The true children of the Father are the ones who sought Him so much that they went out of their way to get to know Him personally.  Is there anything we can do right now to press forward in our walk with God and be more filled by His Spirit?  Is there any distance that we could remove to draw us closer to our Savior?  Could we be led more openly and more completely by the Spirit of God today?

Dear Lord,

Please help us respond to Your gesture of love and throw off everything to come running into Your arms without delay!

Amen
