Heirs With Christ

Heirs With Christ

Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.  Romans 8:17  NIV

Christians wait in thrilling expectancy to become heirs with Christ their Savior.  Just what they expect to receive may vary.  Some eagerly look forward to inheriting a mansion especially prepared just for them.  Others may by dying to walk on golden streets or to be praised and lifted up in glory.  And many, oh so many, are waiting for the promise of life eternal to be handed down to them as their prize.  While each of these blessings are promised and will come to pass in God´s own Way, people might be surprised to find that what they were yearning for is not the ultimate goal.  Things may not turn out to be just as we dreamed.  What is it that our hearts strain to earn as heirs with Christ?

Eternal life is to know God and His Son Jesus Christ!  The Lord Himself is the Prize we are to be given!  He is more than enough!  He is more than we could possibly dream of!  To be handed down the honor of entering His Presence, is the highest honor that could be given to any mortal!  To stand before God together with His Son is life eternal!  Praise be to God that we have been offered this hope!  Shall we pray now that our sights are set properly on our Goal?  Shall we ask the Lord to set us hard on reaching our promised Reward and help us receive our inheritance Prize?

Dear Lord,

Purify our gaze.  Give us a more intense yearning to receive the promised Reward.  But let our Prize be You we pray!
