Only

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.  Romans 9:27  NIV

History repeats itself.  Over and over, time and time again, God´s children get cocky.  We puff ourselves up with superiority.  We think we have better religion.  We call ourselves the chosen race.  We forget to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.  Humility is far from our objective.  The love of God does not find its Way into our hearts.  We do not care to see how the Spirit of God moves.  The Lord calls us to seek to have God living in us  But we still exclude people.  We still judge our neighbor.  We still treat the one with ideas that don´t conform to ours like an outcast or a sinner.  To call ourselves the remnant of God we let our actions wander far from the gentle loving ways of our Savior. He gave His very life for those who hated Him or belittled Him.  Are we forgetting that only a remnant will be saved that sees our tendencies and does all we can to find Jesus and His Spirit alive and moving freely in us?

The warnings are many.  Christ teaches passionately.  In every Godly source we find encouragement.  What remains is for a few believers to get worked up enough about what we know in theory.  Shall we pray that the Lord finds His desired reactions in us?  Shall we pray that at least we can humble ourselves?  Shall we seek such a close walk with Jesus that He can replace our nature with His?

Dear Lord,

Focus  us on You.  Fill us and change us!  Bring up a remnant in Spirit.  Let us seek only You and Your Spirit in us we pray!

Amen
