Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.” Romans 9:5 NIV
Our Christian faith is something that should be simple, but because it is dealing with spiritual matters, we can complicate it. Modern man has become an expert in making things complicated. Our lives should be quite simple with all the conveniences we have made. But the rat-race we have created demonstrates the contrary. We are told plainly that the man who does these things will live by them. Sounds complicated. We can keep it that way. Or we can look for another Way! We can look to Christ! That is where faith begins! That is simplicity! What do we want to live by now?
The heart that is not given to it will struggle with this kind of simplicity. Our modern pull towards the ways of our times would make our walk into a highly complex and impossible task. But Jesus quietly offers us the path of peace. He would shift our gaze from all the rest. He would have us look to Him. If we can hear Him, we are the blessed few. If we cannot hear Him, we can be moved to seek hearing His voice. The rest will not care enough. They already choose their complexity. But give us our Simplicity! Give us Jesus! Let us live by Him! Let us put our faith in Christ and spend our days walking by Him and living only by Him!
While the world lives by everything else under the sun, let us live by The Son! Give us our Savior and let us live by Him! Let us spend our days seeking to be by Jesus´ side we pray!
