How On Earth

How On Earth

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  Romans 10:14  NIV

In this world we look for the secret steps that will open all the golden doors for us.  Some look for tricks to get rich.  Some want fame.  Christians want to be the first into Heaven, and so on.  But with all this scurrying, there have always been some whose hearts were opened to the ways of God.  These precious few are not the ones trying to get ahead here on earth.  These have chosen to let go of earthly goals.  The children who burn to be with God shift their gaze from this frantic world.  God fills their vision and their heart.  How on earth can we find God in our lives?  Could the secret be where our focus is?  Should it be on the One we want to be with?

We cannot come to God while clinging to all that we see here.  It just doesn´t work!  To believe in God is to step away from our distraction with the world.  To hear, one has to stop listening to the world.  To preach God first and foremost, one must step out of the world´s parade.  How on earth can we turn that far from our ways today?  Yet if we have any interest in knowing God, how on earth could can we keep from dropping everything, and seek Him?

Dear Lord,

Our prayer today is for us to stop looking at ourselves, our world and our ways.  We want to look away!  Show us how on earth to look to You first, always and ever more clearly!  Give us the blessed joy of walking each moment with You we pray!

Amen
