Above Self

Above Self

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.  Romans 12:10  NIV

We have a new God.  Actually, it is not new at all.  Adam stumbled over this trouble too.  Like him, we have each one ever since, turned to this little god self…  Redemption is God´s carefully planned cure to assist some over this hurdle.  Christ is the Father´s gift to help us see and repent from our treason and turn our eyes once again above our self.  In Him we can rest our hope, our faith, and our adoration, high above where it should be on God.  Have we realized our hearts have shifted from God to self?  Has the thought moved us to seek and to follow Jesus?  Are we walking so close to the Son that we imitate Him and put others before self?

If we cannot see our disease, we will never be moved to seek a cure.  If we are not convinced of our failure to put God before our selves, then we will continue to bow to these lesser gods.  If we are not painfully convicted of the sin in placing our own interest before sacrificing of ourselves for all God´s children, then we can never say that we follow Jesus.  If we do not have the love of Jesus in us, then we will never see the Father.  What are we going to do today?  Shall we ask for help?  Shall we ask God to rise in our hearts to His rightful place above self?

Dear Lord,

Forgive us for looking so often and so fondly upon ourselves and our agendas!  Let us have our Help!  Give us Jesus!  Give us so much of the Son in us that our hearts become like His and place You over self always and forever we pray!

Amen
