God Established

God Established

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.  Romans 13:1  NIV

It is easier for us to accept that God has established our rulers and given them the right to have authority over us when we support these rulers.  But when we do not approve of the leaders of our lands, what do we do?  Should we remember that God has placed them there and that it is our test of faith to submit to them?

We tend to forget God.  We act as if He is not here.  We see our world, we know what is right and wrong, but we forget that God in power has His plan.  We don´t have to get upset when someone we don´t like gets into power.  It is not about us or that other person.  God faithfully continues work out the salvation of those precious few who are able to wrench their eyes off of our situations and look to Him.  We can thank the Lord for knowing more than we do.  He knows whether or not He needs a good government over us right now, or a bad one.  The true believer is drawn closer to the Lord through both.  We can embrace the love and blessings of God when our rulers are positive leaders.  And we can thank the Lord for placing governors in power who make us see our need for God.  Shall we work with the Spirit to draw us nearer to the Lord with the help of whatever authorities He sees fit to give us now?

Dear Lord,

Help us to trust You with what kind of leaders to give us.  Establish us further in You through all You establish we pray!

Amen
